MY CURRENT TOP 3 BRANDS FOR TALLER WOMEN

Updated: Apr 14, 2018

I don't know about you, but when I buy a pair of newly on-trend wide leg trousers, I like the bottom of the trouser hem to touch the floor, however being above average height for a female at 5ft 8.5, that's a lot easier said than done.

Boohoo TALL - Marie one shoulder dress

At "model" height (I wish!) I am forever finding it difficult to find a pair of trousers that fit me perfectly - and I won't even go there in terms of nice crop times that are long enough in the body; completely different ball game.

When shopping online, I always check the length measurements of the products I am interested in, for example the inseam length on a pair of trousers, and the length of a bodysuit from shoulder to crotch - (no one likes camel toe on a night out do they?!)

However, I am actually finding it more and more difficult to find brands that accommodate taller women. Often I scroll through my favourite retailers and notice an amazing eye-catching top, and then realise, oh no wait, yep, I'm in the "Petite" section.

It seems to me that if you're in the taller category, you're also supposedly frumpy, and have little-to-zero taste in clothing. Why are all the options so bland and boring?

Then there's the "Curve" section tailored to women above a certain dress size with these amazing houglass figures; okay so 1. that's not me, and 2. why can't they make the same products for TALL people?

On the plus side, I have done you all a HUGE favour girls. I have tons of experience shopping online (whoopppps!) and have listed below my Top 5 on-trend, fashionable, edgy and sassy brands that accommodate us TALL ladies, with a few hints and tips on sizing, fit and quality too:

1. BOOHOO - TALL

Okay, so for me, #Boohoo have upped their game massively! The material for starters seems to be of a much better quality, and they are now stocking more and more pieces for tall women.

Below I have picked out some of my favourite pieces (links and all) with a few tips and tricks on how they could be styles, and which occasions they might be appropriate for.

My picks
Boohoo Tall Collection

Okay, this is giving me massive summer vibes. Personally, I would pair this bright crop with a pair of denim cut-off's, lots of gold chains and a pair of sunnies (of course). It is quite a versatile piece, so I would also think about teaming it with a pair of vinyl leggings and perspex heels for a night out.

This dress has wedding guest written all over it! I love that #Boohoo have sooo many great options for occasion wear which wont cost you an arm and a leg! I love the one shoulder feature on this dress, and the print is so chic, but not too over the top. I would think about teaming this with a little woven gold belt, just to pull in my waist and accentuate my shape. I would then add some gold hoops and gold or nude barley there sandals. You don't need to go OTT with the accessories, as this dress already has a lot of detail going on.

I am quite in love with this top I'm not going to lie, and with polka dot's being a huge trend for this season, this really is a winner! I love the bardot neckline on this little crop, I find that this neck shape is really flattering for most women, and it shows off a bit of skin without getting your whole chest out! I really like how this has been styled in the pic, with a pair of denim shorts, but to make it slightly dressier I would think about teaming it with a pair of tailored white shorts, or white jeans/trousers and some colour pop heels - maybe red?

All my #tallgirls how do you feel when every single playsuit goes straight up your crotch? (Argghhh!). Well not to worry, #Boohoo have outdone themselves here with a gorgeous, on trend print playsuit that would be perfect for a summer holiday. I love the print on this piece and the border detail around the neckline. I would probably try and pull colours out of this playsuit that I can match for accessories, so shoe-wise I would be thinking some burnt orange strappy sandals or black barley heels, combined with a pair of black tassel earrings - just for that extra glam!

2 - MISSGUIDED TALL

Okay huns, I have been a massive fan of Miss G since they first launched back in 2008, so when their tall collection landed, I was pretty much beside myself with excitement.

The quality of #Missguided has always been on point, and they always jump onto the latest trends which means you don't have to wait too long to be rocking some of hottest catwalk looks.

My Picks
MissGuided Tall Collection

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how much this dress looks like the real-life version of theWhatsapp emoji?

This is the perfect number for holiday with a tan or a special occasion, I am loving the frill hem detail, as this gives it more of a feminine twist. I would team this dress with a pair of gold barley there sandals and some tassel earrings.

I am a sucker for a bodysuit, I must have about 15 already - whooops. The thing I like most about them, is that unlike a blouse the material doesn't gather around your stomach area making you look larger than what you are, which is why this beauty is on my wish list.

I am still loving satin material, its perfect for a night out, as it can add a bit more glam to an outfit. I also find long sleeves and a v-neckline really flattering - if your like me and hate your arms then this is perfect, and the gorgeous nudey-brown hue will sort most skin and hair types which is always a plus!

Taking is back to basics for sec, you can never go wrong with a pair of snug skinny jeans (that actually fit in length), which is why these sinner jeans are in my top picks from #Missguided - I love the light wash denim and slightly distressed patches. You could team these with a pair of ankle boots and a blouse, or wear them'out out' with a pair of barley there heels and a bardot crop top or bodysuit.

3 - LAVISH ALICE

I have included this brand in my list as I find they offer some great taller options for formal clothing. For example, you might have a wedding to attend, which means a bum-skimming mini dress won't do - well #LavishAlice have a fantastic collection of dresses, skirts and tops and all at very respectable lengths in sharp, clean cut, figure hugging designs - (no frump-iness here ladies!)

I am also loving the hues they use in their collection from jade greens, to mint and cornflower blue's. Below are my top 3 picks with links:

My Picks
Lavish Alice Collection

This is such a dreamy outfit, its a mix of office chic / edgy - I love the way it has been paired with a pair of block heel strappy sandals, although I would probably go for some that are slightly more neutral in nudey-beige tones. I would probably also accessorize with some stacked gold chains and a cocktail ring.

This stunningly simple twist bardot midi dress exudes sophistication without being fussy, and that’s why I'm loving it. In a beautiful jade green - you can let this piece do the talking on its own. The deep thigh split gives a slight edge of flirtation without being OTT.

This little number will put a spring in your step, in a lovely mint green hue which really is flattering on all skin tones. I would tuck this top into a pair of crisp white high-waisted flare trousers, with a pair of turquoise tassel statement earrings and nude heels.
