WHAT TO WEAR ON A FIRST DATE: MY TOP 5 TIPS

So the person you have been stalking for the past 6 months drops into your DM’s, and you’re beyond excited that they’ve asked you on a date. As if a first date with a potential new bf isn’t stressful enough, you've then got the drama of sourcing an amazing outfit to make sure you turn up dressed to impress on every possible occasion.

So this is where I wanted to lend a hand and give you some inspo to take your date day/night confidence up a notch. First impressions count so let’s make yours 10/10. Here’s my roundup of what to wear on a first date.

1. CASUAL MEAL

Okay, so I'm not talking anything fancy here, so on this kind of date I would always suggest sticking to the good old jeans and a 'nice top' combo. A simple bodysuit, jeans and heels is both flattering and practical and requires little effort at all. Think ripped detail jeans, with a white bodysuit or blouse, and simple strap heels that you won’t fall head over heels in… Literally. If its a super super casual meal, like lets say Nando's, swap you're heels for trainers or some cute leopard print loafers!

2. OUTDOOR ACTIVITY

There’s no better way to show your crush your fun and playful side than to head into the outdoors. Theme park, dog walk, paintballing (ha)? You name it. This means you can ditch any ideas of alcohol and get to know each other. However, his doesn't mean all effort goes out the window... you've still got to show them you still mean business, so a killer outfit has still got to be on the cards. Keep it casual with a pair of leggings, a crop top, chunky trainers and a denim jacket. This look is practical but trendy. It will show them that you don’t need to glam up to look THIS good.

3. COFFEE DATE

Last minute plans to meet up on your lunch break? No sweat. A casual slip-on dress does as it says on the tin, slip it on and go. If you want to add a bit of glam to your outfit, why not rock a polka dot dress? This way you can show your sassy side whilst still keeping it date appropriate. The tea dress is the perfect pick, it’s feminine, its flattering and it’s everything you need to drink your caramel latte in. To take this look up a notch, style it with a baker boy, a biker jacket and ankle boots.

4. WINE & DINE

This is where you get to really GO FOR IT! Remember to keep it classy and don’t show off too much skin during these early stages (less is always more). No plunging neckline or extreme splits, just enough drama to keep them guessing. Nothing screams sophistication more than a blazer dress right? It’s the best of both worlds, it’s formal and it’s flirty. Style it with strappy heels and statement earrings and you’ll be ticking all the boxes!

5. GIG / CONCERT GO-ER

If you’re into the same music as your new date and you’re hitting a gig to see your fave band, the possibilities for a flamey outfit are endless. Show off your cool side with a pair of denim shorts and a slogan tee, finish the outfit with ankle boots and big hoops and you have an impressing look without putting in any effort at all.
